Don't Cry For Them, Argentina

I found this unpublished post, written right after our SN episode aired.

"One of the people who insists on sending me numerous emails and comments on the ABC chat board, says that she pities my children and worries for their welfare. I wonder what she means by that?

  • Does she pity that they get home cooked meals every day?
Does she feel bad that they only get one song each, at bedtime?
  • Is she sad that they only get new clothes when we can afford them, or get extra cash?
  • Does she feel bad that the little money I earn by blogging, goes towards fun outings or frivolous extras for them?
  • Is she outraged that their dad coaches their sports teams and the whole family attends every game, to cheer them on?
  • Does she pity the fact that they have to share a room?
  • Is she angered by the homework help that they receive from me, every day? Or that I help out at school whenever I can?
  • Does she feel sorry for the money we spent on Sylvan, to get Trenton academically caught up last summer?
  • Does she feel sorry for them because their parents allowed the world to see their dirty laundry in order to get the parenting help that they needed?
If so...then she is wasting her time. There are so many really pitiful children in the world. Children who are abused, neglected and starving. Why doesn't she spend her time and energy worrying about them, instead of obsessing about my children's welfare? Oh well...go ahead and pity them. In fact, send your pity money to our home address. After all, my poor children have really been wanting to renew their annual passes to Disneyland!"

How very interesting that the lady who worried so much about my children has not even written to check up on them. I guess she has found another family to pity, like the Duggars.

OMG Kadi! As a new reader to your blog (a few weeks now), I had no idea you and yours were on SN. We still use the naughty chair and the sleep technique with our kids. (Lucky for me I only had to buy the book.)

Your post was well written. Some people just don't get it. I wonder if that woman EVEN HAS kids, and knows what it's like to be puked on at 2:30am.

I agree with you, Kadi! There are so many more children suffering than yours in this world. You own your own home, the kids have a stay at home mom and hard working dad, they have food on the table every night and clothes on their backs.
This lady needs to get a life!

some people have no idea. You are a better mom to your 7 kids than some are to even 1. They get plenty of attention and lots and lots of LOVE!
