...of genius, that is. I only have 3 days left to come up with a really great Mother's Day idea for my mom. We going out for an early Mother's Day celebration on Friday and I have no idea what to give her. For those of you who have read this blog for awhile now, you know how highly I think of my Mom. You have probably even read the post I wrote on her awhile back. If not, here is the link to a similar tribute, I wrote yesterday: Mom's Tribute.
I decided to enlist the help of my readers over at Guerrilla Parenting, but so far, only a handful of people have expressed interest in winning free flowers from www.proflowers.com. If any of you are interested in joining the contest I am running over there, just click here: GP Mother's Day Idea Contest. The contest ends Friday morning, so get your ideas in quickly. You may enter as many times as you'd like!
So far, in our home, all has been quiet regarding Mother's Day. I'm guessing that it will be celebrated much the same way it always is, with our family traveling to three different places to celebrate with all of our mothers and grandmothers. Daniel may have the kids make a card that morning when he realizes that he forgot about Mother's Day. I have decided to stay away from the wine this year. Last year, I had such a crappy Mother's Day that I drank a little too much and ended up chewing everyone a new rear end, on the way home. It was a long ride home and the kids argued the whole way, in fact they had been arguing the whole day. Here's the link to that post: MD 2007. I'm not an angry drunk, but if you piss me off and I happen to be drunk, I may bite your head off.
Hopefully, I will pull off a great gift for my own Mom, remember to get Daniel's Mom a gift and have a peaceful Sunday. Hopefully, I will remember that holidays are not a big deal to husbands and children (unless it is in their honor.) Hopefully, I will be able to resist having a glass of wine. Hopefully, I will have a good post to write the day after. I know...I have pretty high hopes, but I'll take even one of the above and be grateful. What are your plans for Mother's Day?

Hi-ya Kadi,
I've been a bit of a lurker to your blog for a while now and really enjoy it. I'm 33 year-old (recently single) mom with 14, 12, 8 year-old kids myself. (If you do the math you see you and I started having babies around the same age.) Anyhoo, I like reading your stories, there's so many I can relate to. That and the fact that just because you're a mom doesn't mean you're not still a woman too! hear, hear.
I loved the line in today's post "I'm not usually an angry drunk but if I happen to be drunk and you piss me off I may rip your head off" (or something to that effect) had me giggling. I'm the exact same way!
Cheers - Leigh Anne
PS - I plan to get drunk this year for mother's day. It's my day and I figure I've earned it!

I am a 49 yr old widow with a grown son (only child), my Mom and Mother-in-law have both recently passed on. My son has remembered Mother's Day maybe twice in his 30 yrs of life. I tell you all of that to explaine that I will be wallowing in self pity on Mother's Day. Wine sounds good, count me in......
I plan on spending it with my parents & sisters family, as well as my own heathens. I'm in the same boat as you tho, gift wise...I am not running as short on time tho, I still have until Sunday;) LOL
