Who Wants To See Oprah Poll Dance?

There are three things a blogger can write about to really get readers' panties in a twist:

  1. religion
  2. politics
  3. Oprah

Writing about all three of them in one post is like eating a jalapeno chili dog, chili fries, 3 churros and a large coke...then taking some Ex-lax. You know that there will be hell to pay by the end of the day! In light of the tremendous fluctuation in opinions on the subject of Oprah and her deeds, I propose a poll. I'm going to do a poll for two reasons. Firstly, I don't have all day to sit around and have theological, political and pro/anti Oprah discussions. Secondly, I am soooo interested to know demographics of my readers. I know "Oprah supporters" is not really a demographic, but what the hell...on with the poll!

I am sorry that I called you a "hypocrite." That was actually inappropriate.

I, too, am Jewish. Do you realize how HURTFUL it is to be told that if I don't accept Jesus as the son of God I will go to hell? Jesus was Jewish. Judaism is an old and revered religion. It doesn't even have any "heaven" or "hell." You are supposed to be a good person SOLELY FOR THE SAKE OF BEING A GOOD PERSON... not out of FEAR of going to hell. I don't understand a religion based on fear.

My husband was Episcopalian and he is now an atheist. He is the "best" person I have ever known. He will go out of his way to help anyone. He donates blood as often as he can.

I don't understand how people who call themselves "Christian" are not "christian" with a small "c." They are judgemental and cruel. They never seem to think through exactly what they are saying. In my opinion, they are self-righteous. If that is "calling names," again, I apologize.

P.S. I despise Oprah, don't watch her show, and don't even care to watch that video. I just think she's full of herself.

That's an interesting point about Judaism. You said that you live by the "Bible." Whatever happened to the OLD Testament?

Dear whocares,

I think that you've made some excellent points. I've known many people who get wrapped up in their own beliefs and don't realize how they come across to others. You and your husband would be welcome at my table.

Oprah overload is what I am feeling, Kadi!! Tom Cruise on the show with his crazy couch jumping stunts? Who cares! Barbara Walters has written a book and decided to tell how she had an affair years ago? Seriously- who cares!! David Blaine- do I really need to go there? I really used to enjoy her, but it seems she all over the map in the past few years. Her beliefs sway with which way the wind blows-- and THAT is what truly bothers me. Believe what you believe- and stand up strong for it. Don't morph according to what is hip or cool at the moment.

he donates blood? Sooo.....that means what? That was "good" of you to appoligize!

What narrow choices to choose from for the poll! There's only one positive choice for her...it's either all or nothing....my vote is: "she can have her own beliefs because I have mine"

Every minute of Oprah brings your IQ down one point.

I find it strange that some of the same people who think that Christianity is for the weak-minded tune in to her to receive their thoughts for the day.
