Would You Like Flies With That?

"B" on a report card is acceptable. "B" list actors are also acceptable. A "B" grade on the window of a restaurant is unacceptable. If I ever see it in any food related place of business, I steer clear of the joint. I've even offended my own grandparents because they "treated" us to a Chinese restaurant that had a "B" grade and I refused to eat. Trust me...if you had seen the place, you'd be lucky to keep the food you had already consumed, from being upchucked. It was nasty.

So anyway, the kids and I were coming out of the Stater Bros. parking lot, with our weekly load of groceries, when we passed their favorite place. Do you even have to ask what place it was? What is every kid's favorite place, besides Disneyland? They begged for me to drive through and grab some Happy Meals. As we argued, I noticed that there was a "B" grade in the window. I almost rear ended the car in front of me because I was in such shock. A "B" at a Mc Donald's joint? No effing way. We eat there all the time. How did I not see the sign? I was gagging at the thought of what the "B" could have been a result of. Rats? Bugs? Feces covered hands? Ugh...never mind. I'm getting ill again, just thinking about it.

We will not be eating at that Mc D's for a long time. Even if they bring the grade up...I'm still going to be skeptical. To this day I refuse to eat a hamburger at any Jack In The Box because of the botulism scandal back in 1992. I guess you could say that I hold onto grudges with an iron fist.

Oh I'm the same way! That sort of stuff just grosses me out. I think it has to be pretty bad to get a "B" rating...
Your right, McDonalds?!?!? Who would have thought...I better pay more attention!

I prefer eating at places that have just gotten over some sort of health scare because I know they're going to make damn sure that they're Operating Room sterile and clean. At least for the first couple months, then it's back to being an E.coli breeding ground.

We call it Jack in the Crack, for that exact reason.

Watch the movie "Fast food nation". It is based on a factual book of the same name. My family swore off fast food a little over a year ago because of it. Now I know this is extreme, but believe me, we were at least a once a week trip to McDonalds or Taco bell. Now that we know why their food is so cheap, I can't bring myself to touch the stuff. I'm just a normal mom. Not a peta fanatic or crazed vegan. I still eat meat. I just like to know where and how it ends up in the store. Yes, it costs more. Real food does. Ok...I will step off of my soapbox now. :) Love the blog. I check it several times a day. I love that you are so active in it! Keep up the great work !

Is Jack in the Box even in business anymore? I thought they went under after one of their teen cooks blew snot in a policeman's burger before serving it to him. I wonder what grade the health department gave them for that one....

At least you KNOW that it's rated B...I've never seen ratings like that anywhere we eat. If they start it may be the answer to my diet problems!

OK. I'm scared. Our McDonalds is already scary and now they rate them? Crap, I'm in for it....considering the rednecks that work there. One of them being my mother in law.

Here in NM we have a Red or Green sticker in the windows of any business that sells or prepares food. Makes it easy to see. Red+RUN!!
I almost ended up divorced over the whole Jack n The Box thing. Right after that happened I read Robin Cook's book Toxin. I refused to let my family eat ANY fast food. I also refused to buy or cook any hamburger meat for two years. After a huge war with my husband I gave in. I still have a hard time with any reasturant and with hamburger meat! Good luck with keeping your family away from Mc D's!! Trust me they will wear you down!

It's official - a kids favorite place to eat needs no name - the golden arches has them from the first bite of french fry to the triple bypass - Im distraught to find out not only is McD's not healthy but it's not healthy for other reasons too-excuse me while I cry in my coffee.....

One time mt dad got a "B"! It was for stupid crap, honestly. One employee wasn't wearing a hat, my mom wasn't wearing a hat or hairnet? Never has in what 20 years? The temperature chart wasn't filled out. It was all stuff that had nothing to do with the quality or dirty food. My dad thought people will think like you did about McDonalds so he had them come back as soon as poosible and got his "A" back. I think "B" are petty things. If a heath person sees dirty things or anything to do with food, they are going to shut the place down. I woudn't worry about McDonalds!

Oh, and my dad even saw 1 person drive up, park, then backup and drove away! lol He was soooo ticked off! When I had drove up and saw his "B" I was like , "what the hell is that." He was soo mad! But, it REALLY was petty stuff,NOTHING to do with the food! But still, If I saw a B at chinese, I think I would run too!

I won't eat at a Checkers because years ago they discovered "acceptable levels of bug carcasses in the patties"

This year they found them storing buns in the mens room.

Nice.
